Sue Jackson is delighted to have been selected by Visit Wales to deliver a range of Pilot training courses for the Digital Tourism Business Framework Programme in North Wales.

The aim of these innovative one day ‘Using Technology in Tourism’ training courses, as set out by Visit Wales, is to "assist Tourism Businesses and supporting organisations to adopt new technology.  This will allow them to meet and exceed visitor expectations and become more competitive in the market place as a result".

This one day interactive workshop will give you an understanding of the concepts, tools and processes involved in promoting & publicising your website and also an introduction to using social media effectively.

One Day Workshop

The Digital Tourism Business Framework Programme, Pilot course is designed for the complete beginner or for those that are new to web design, search engine optimisation and social media but who do have experience using the Internet and Windows.

The cost to attend the workshop is just £25 per person and this includes certificate of completion, courseware pre installed on a USB pen drive, lunch and refreshments. The workshop is part funded by the Welsh European Funding Office, Visit Wales and Tourism Partnership North Wales.

The course is very practical and will focus on three main areas:

1.  An introduction to the new DTB Programme website – sharewales.com
     
Sharing knowledge and content.

2.  Maximising the potential of your web site

As the internet gets busier and busier, thousands of websites are created every single day!  You need to understand how search engines work so that you can modify your web pages so that they will rank higher in the search engine results.

  • Converting your website visitors to buyers
  • Improving web design / Search Engine Optimisation
  • Making your web site smart phone friendly
  • Pay-per-click
  • Link Building

You will need to bring along your login details to access your CMS to enable the updating of your website.

3.  Social Media, why and how to get involved

Social Media marketing will help you to build and maintain a network of customers, you can connect and interact with on a personal level.

  • What is Social Media and why is it so important?
  • An understanding of the impact social media is having on the tourism industry
  • Creating a Facebook  page for your Tourism Business
  • Getting more likes for your Facebook Page
  • Using Facebook to promote your tourism business
  • An Overview of Twitter
  • Creating a Twitter Strategy for your business

You will need to bring along your login details to access your webmail and a photo or logo for your profile.

If time permits we will also introduce you to:

QR Codes – creating and using them to drive traffic to your website.
Google Places for business -  a free local platform from Google
Google Analytics - shows you how visitors found your site, how they explored it, and how you can enhance their visitor experience
